Earlier this month, my lady & I visited my mother & her side of the family in Idaho. It was comforting to see my mom in a clean (sober) head-space for the first time in a long time; I can’t quite put the feelings into words other than the fact that she seemed like her truest self. It was pretty damn special to get to experience that. Her powerful energy must’ve brought out the surprisingly beautiful weather (it was supposed to rain on & off the whole time) we were blessed with throughout the entire trip.
The days were filled with a soft grey but when the sun managed to break through, it shined so elegantly down on Boise & its high desert landscape. I felt at home—calm & connected to the land. Perhaps this is why my grandparents decided to stay here after years of going back & forth between Arizona, Washington, California & other parts of Idaho. Whatever their reasons were, I understood them more than ever.
During our downtime, we flipped through family photo albums, heard about past stories, & relived some of those earlier times in our hearts & minds.
Stunning images dude! The shed is a particular favorite of mine but the images from the Oregon trail, especially that one of your grandfather are so rich in mood I could have stayed in the moment a long while. Happy to hear this was a great experience for you!
