Earlier this month, I had a short day at work & as I was gettin off, I noticed the clouds rolling in. The sunlight had diffused beautifully & I instantly felt the urge to take advantage of this extra time by taking Olive & I to my favorite nearby spot: River Bend Park.
As soon as we parked, I just knew that it was going to be a solid hour of shooting & hiking. Olive saw it as a solid hour of endlessly running around, taking complete advantage of being off-leash. There were wild turkeys strolling through the same thin dirt paths we were walking on. A group of deer were keeping an eye on us, making sure we didn’t get too close to them. It was a perfect day to be out. On top of all of that, the trees were very dramatic & photogenic underneath the muted afternoon sun.
I always find myself returning back to this particular area. With its array of paths, beautiful canopies & lush ravines, it’s quite easy to just let my feet (and Olive, of course) lead the way. I don’t have to refer to a map nor look for any navigational signs; I’m able to just let go of any weight from the day & completely immerse myself into this dense riparian habitat.
On our way back to the car, Olive was kind enough to let me get a portrait of her <3
I’m glad I went with my gut on this particular day..
the arched trees were my favorite (besides the ravine: #2, 3, & 5)!! It felt like what I would imagine parts of Europe’s countryside to look like.. so whimsical. If you ever visit Sacramento, I’ll be taking you here!
Lovely! The arched trees over the path make for a very mysterious and fantastic photo!
